Expanding Hoenn's Future

Our Vision

At MagmaCorp, we're committed to developing cutting-edge technology to improve the future of Hoenn. Click a location to learn more about our revolutionary sea-lowering program and the many benefits it offers Hoenn.

Basalt Island

Basalt Island has been closed to trainers for nearly a century, ever since it became clear that habitat degradation and overcapture would soon drive the region's only wild torchic population to extinction. Today many pokémon species vie against humans for living space, and habitat degradation is threatening to erase some of Hoenn's most iconic pokémon.

Lowered sea levels would provide ample new territory for many of these threatened pokémon, both by adding additional landmass and by altering local ecology. The map at left presents only a handful of the species that would benefit, with darker-colored regions indicating present range and lighter-colored regions indicating predicted additional range after a sea level drop. With the great expansion of Basalt Island, we hope that future trainers might again be able to encounter one of Hoenn's most famous pokémon in the wild.

Sealed Chamber

The sealed chamber is a remnant of Hoenn's mysterious past, a past where lower sea levels allowed ancient civilizations inhabit areas that are now underwater. These submerged sites are difficult to excavate, and as a result we understand very little about Hoenn's earliest settlers.

If sea levels were returned to their historical norm, experts estimate that well over fifty significant archaeological sites would be exposed, offering an unprecedented glimpse into the region's fascinating history. With the proper development, these ruins could also draw tourists from around the world, boosting the economy of what has traditionally been one of Hoenn's poorest areas.

Lilycove City

Hoenn's most populous city grew over 7% in the past decade, and many of the region's metropolitan areas are expanding at a similar rate. As surburban sprawl threatens to drive numerous pokémon species from their homes, ecological models predict that the demand for housing will begin to cause severe habitat degredation within twenty years.

Lowering the sea level by just one meter will open up over 2,000 square miles of land for new development--enough to house as many as twenty million people. That's enough to satisfy predictions of Hoenn's population growth for well over fifty years, all without damaging an inch of the region's pristine wilds.

Dewford Town

Piracy plagues southeastern Hoenn, causing over 2 billion Pk in losses last year alone. Dewford Town's place on the the shipping lane that carries goods between eastern Hoenn and Rustboro's factories makes it the hardest-hit of the major ports, with over a dozen attacks reported last year. Region-wide, the number of pirate attacks has increaed 30% over the past five years. Anti-piracy efforts are limited by a lack of manpower to patrol the region's sparsely-populated island chains, which are known to harbor a significant pirate population.

Lowering the sea level would leave these illicit ports high and dry disrupt typical pirate attack routes. In addition, MagmaCorp has pledged over 3 million Pk towards stamping out piracy and making Hoenn's seas safe again.
